I’ve been exploring some of the very modern worship songs as an old guy😀. But now, I’ve decided to alternate between very modern hymns, old hymns, and in-between hymns, namely the worship songs from the 60s to the 90s that feature in hymnbooks such as Mission Praise. Today it’s the turn of the in-between hymns.
Today’s song is Father We Love You from the mid‑1970s.
I do remember singing this one quite often back in the 1980s. Despite its name, the hymn’s verses address all three members of the Trinity – One God in three persons; Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Like many of these old choruses, the lyrics are very simple. But the way I see it, is that I just delight in being in the presence of God and worshipping with others. The qualityor complexity of the music and lyrics isn’t all important. And the older songs help me to reflect on my earlier years, and they make me thankful that I still believe. It was nice to find performances of the song on YouTube. So many of the older songs have only audio performances.
