I always prefer happy endings, but life doesn’t always yield happy endings. Perhaps I’d rewrite the ending of Romeo and Juliet. I previously answered a question very similar to this by wanting to rewrite the ending of Alice in Wonderland, which told us that Wonderland was just a dream 😀. I’m happy when I wake from a nightmare, but I never like waking up from happy dreams. When laptops emerged around 30 years ago, I had a dream that I had a laptop. As I began to wake and concluded that I was in a dream, I remember trying to figure out if I could bring it into the real world 😀. But I did get one after a couple of years and I’ve had many since.
I’m very happy with the ending of the New Testament. It’s a little scary and might not align with modern thinking, but I want to know the truth rather than invent a religion that aligns with what’s currently fashionable.
Revelation 22:17-21
17 The Spirit and the bride say, “Come!” And let the one who hears say, “Come!” Let the one who is thirsty come; and let the one who wishes take the free gift of the water of life.
18 I warn everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this scroll: If anyone adds anything to them, God will add to that person the plagues described in this scroll. 19 And if anyone takes words away from this scroll of prophecy, God will take away from that person any share in the tree of life and in the Holy City, which are described in this scroll.
20 He who testifies to these things says, “Yes, I am coming soon.”
Amen. Come, Lord Jesus.
21 The grace of the Lord Jesus be with God’s people. Amen.
And I always enjoy songs and hymns about the end of this world or the end of this life. When we trust in the Saviour, the future life will be much better. People debate about the specifics, but I’m certain that everything will be wonderful, however it pans out:
