I’ve been exploring some of the very modern worship songs as an old guy😀. But now, I’ve decided to alternate between very modern hymns, old hymns, and in-between hymns, namely the worship songs from the 60s to the 90s that feature in hymnbooks such as Mission Praise. Today it’s the turn of the in-between hymns.
Today’s song is Jesus is the Name We Honour from the 1991.
This is another example of song that I only discovered about 10 years ago. It wasn’t as easy to discover new songs back in 1991, especially if you mixed in more traditional evangelical circles like I did. But however cautious we were about newer movements, they’ve always produced good worship songs. Some of these found their way into more traditional scenes. And perhaps people now see them as traditional hymns. But I love to discover all the hymns published throughout my life and before. I’m sorry I never composed any, but maybe I’ll attempt it sometime. Who knows 😀.
