I remember being in a car crash some years ago. Thankfully, none of us were seriously injured, but the car was a write off. I was on a road perhaps around 40 miles from home. This stranger was hanging around looking at us standing next to the wreck. And then he offered to drive us all the way home. And of course, he would have had to drive all the way back to his village too. I was so thankful and impressed by his behaviour. I remember the words of Jesus:
Matthew 25:40
40 “The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’
And of course, there’s the Parable of the Good Samaritan. Jews and Samaritan didn’t get on well together. It must have been a huge delight for the man who had been attacked to have been helped by the Samaritan. And that parable looms so large in our culture to this day – even amoung non-Christians.
