It’s nearly 50 years since I had anything like a pet. When I was a child, as a family, we had plenty of cats and dogs, and I myself has a white mouse, white rabbits, and finally, tropical fish. I don’t have any pics, so I’ll show something like them:
What fascinated me was that whenever I went close to the aquarium, they’d just swim around. But when I approached with a little carton of food in my hand, they’d all leap around, full of excitement. So, somehow, they were aware of me 😀.
I sometimes think about tropical fish, when I think of God’s relationship with us. He created to universe, but isn’t it strange that He loves us – given that we’re so much smaller than Him – and there are billions of us. I could imagine being close to a dog or a cat, but I wasn’t particularly attached to any of my little fish. Yet, when you think of it, when a new baby arrives, you love it, eventhough there isn’t much of a “relationship” there to begin with. I can’t begin to try to understand the psychology of God, but it’s plain in Scripture that He does love us – particularly those of us who reach out to Him and commit ourselves to loving Him.
John 3:16

5 and hope doesn’t disappoint us, because God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who was given to us.
