I’ve been exploring some of the very modern worship songs as an old guy😀. But now, I’ve decided to alternate between very modern hymns, old hymns, and in-between hymns, namely the worship songs from the 60s to the 90s that feature in hymnbooks such as Mission Praise. Today it’s the turn of the in-between hymns.
Today’s song is In My Life Lord, Be Glorified from 1978.
This is one of the older “in-between” songs. I was a punk rock fan back in 1978. I was seeking the truth, but I had zero interest in Christian music. But two or three years later, I was singing this one regularly. It was one of the songs that emerged in the 1970s charismatic scene.
In my Baptist church, we sang many old hymns, but I was keen on some of the new ones. Then, about 10 years later, I started liking the old ones more 😀. Nowadays, to avoid becoming a grumpy old man, I try to maintain an interest in all Christian music. But I’m quite nostalgic about these songs that I used to sing in the early years of my evangelical Christian life. The lyrics were very simple – but I see little wrong with that. Whatever, you’re singing, you’re delighting in the presence of God with your fellow believers.
