I’ve been exploring some of the very modern worship songs as an old guy😀. But now, I’ve decided to alternate between very modern hymns, old hymns, and in-between hymns, namely the worship songs from the 60s to the 90s that feature in hymnbooks such as Mission Praise. Today it’s the turn of the in-between hymns.
Today’s song is Thank You Jesus from the 1978.
This was always popular in my circles back in the 1980s and 1990s – in both traditional Irish Baptist churches and some of the newer charismatic groups. I must have sung it hundreds of times. It can be hard to find performances on YouTube because there are many modern popular Thank You Jesus songs. I like this one though for its simplicity – and for all my happy younger years singing it. Most instances on YouTube seems to be kids singing it – but I never thought of it as a kids hymn. But I suppose that it is good for kids because of its simplicity and because it outlines the death, resurrection and second coming of Jesus.
