I can think of lots of things that I was pleased to purchase. The thing that I’m probably most pleased about was my house. I bought it back in 1992. I had been renting back then. I thought that I might eventually try to buy one, but I wasn’t in any rush. We had a group of young lads who moved in next door and were extemely noisy. It set us thinking about moving house. And we started wondering if we could afford to buy one. As it happened, we could, and did. And in later years, house prices in Ireland shot up so much that they’d have been completely out of our range. So, if we didn’t have those noisy neighbours, I might not have had a house. It’s a good example of something bad resulting in something good. God moves in mysterious ways.
So I’m pleased with my house. It’s not the sort of house that people would covet. I see lots of nicer houses. When I was young I used to have this fantasy of waking up in the world with everyone else dead except me. So, I could do what I liked. But maybe that wouldn’t be much fun 😀. But I’d like to be able to live where I liked. I suppose you can “sort of” do that when you go on holiday. The house is yours for a week, but then you have to give it back 😀. Yet, I’m always pleased to come back to my own house. And it’s even better to have a heavenly home.
John 14:2-3
In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also.
