I’ve been exploring some of the very modern worship songs as an old guy😀. But now, I’ve decided to alternate between very modern hymns, old hymns, and in-between hymns, namely the worship songs from the 60s to the 90s that feature in hymnbooks such as Mission Praise. Today it’s the turn of the in-between hymns.
Today’s song is Like a Candle Flame from the 1998.
I didn’t know this one back in 1998. I discovered it about 10 years ago. It was quite unusual for a modern song, but I find it delightful. It’s related to the birth of Jesus. The birth of any child is a delight, but imagine what it would have been like to see the infant Jesus. “Uncreated light shines through infant eyes” is one of the most notable lines. The Son of God existed before anything, and He himself wasn’t created. God; Father, Son, and Holy Spirit existed before time itself was created.

Even from an atheist point of view, it’s truly astonishing what was accomplished by than tiny infant when he grew up in a short period of three years, in a tiny country. But from a Christian perspective, when we understand who He truly is, it’s no surprise at all. If we are surprised, we are surprised or shocked that more don’t respond to His message.
