I’ve been exploring some of the very modern worship songs as an old guy 😀. But now, I’ve decided to alternate between very modern hymns, old hymns, and in-between hymns, namely the worship songs from the 60s to the 90s that feature in hymnbooks such as Mission Praise. Today it’s the turn of the very modern hymns.
Today’s song is Trust in God from 2023.
This one borrows some lyrics from Blessed Assurance, a traditional hymn. I like that. It’s nice to bridge the gap between traditional hymnody and modern worship.
And sometimes, when I look up old hymns, I see them sung in a very modern style. Maybe I should try singing some of the new ones in an older style 😀.

Those who trust in the Lord are like Mount Zion,
    which cannot be shaken but endures forever.
One of my quibbles with Roman Catholic Ireland back in the 1970s is that you might get clergy and teachers telling you to trust in God, but you were generally surrounded by people who appeared to have little interest in God. That’s one of the reasons why it pleased me to find an evangelical church. I could be surrounded by people who were enthusiastic about their faith. And it delights me to find all sorts of people from all over the world praising God on YouTube nowadays. You do get lots of YouTube videos that complain about modern worship, but I’m pleased to see anyone worshipping – regardless of the musical style or movement they come from.
