An Eagle

If you had to be an animal for a week, which one would you be and why?

I’d like to be an eagle. But maybe I’d be happy to any any kind of a bird. I’m sure that we all love the notion of flying. I can see that in music. Here are some examples:

Here’s a list of some other flying songs:

I remember once telling my daughter that I wish I was a bird, and she replied “You wouldn’t have any hands.” Good point! 😀 We humans probably have the best bodies. Maybe I could be a crocodile, but it might be very hard to get a girlfriend if you were a crocodile – unless you were happy to have a crocodile girlfriend 😀.

Anyway, I’d think that we’ll have much more interesting bodies in the future – we shall fly – at least it says that in a hymn. And some verses suggest it, though they may be symbolic. But given that the universe is so huge, I hope that when God creates a new universe in the future, we’ll have much more freedom to explore it.

Isaiah 40:31
“But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.”

1 Thessalonians 4:16-18
16 For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. 17 After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever. 18 Therefore encourage one another with these words.

I grew up watching the Some Mother’s Do Ave ‘Em comedy. Michael Crawford played Frank Spencer – a useless character. As often happens, he played him so well that you’d think that Michael Crawford IS Frank Spencer. That’s why it surprised me when I saw him performing On Eagles Wings:

And here are a few other hymns about flying:
