I don’t know how to answer this one 😀. I did look up AI to ask what technology might not exist in 20 years. Among these was mechanical steering wheels. It might not exist because our cars will be fully autonomous. But surely some will want to maintain control, and vintage cars will still exist.
Funny to think that smartphones are only 20 years old. And it;s predicted that something will replace them within 20 years. Sounds scary.
I remember back in 1980, we used to use slide rules for complex mathematical calculations. A friend of mine went to the UK, and I asked him to buy a pocket calculator there for me. I’m not sure if they were available in Ireland at the time. If they were, they would have been very expensive. And computers were the sort of thing you’d only see in sc-fi movies, though they did exist in the business world. When I thought about the future, nothing like what we have today entered my mind. I do remember my father saying that in the future, newspapers will be printed from the television. He wasn’t far wrong. I assume he read it in a book about the future.
Maybe I won’t exist on earth myself in 20 years. So, feel free to change everything then. I can’t see how it’ll affect me 😀
In a world of change, it’s nice to think that some things stay the same. When I visit my hometown, Cork, I’m always pleased to see buildings that I knew as a child. I tend to resent any new buildings. Back in my youth, it would be the opposite. I was dead keen to see change.
Anyway, I always like to end my post with a few songs or hymns. So these are about the one who doesn’t change. And a time will come when the whole universe will change for the better.
