I’ve been exploring some of the very modern worship songs as an old guy π. But now, I’ve decided to alternate between very modern hymns, old hymns, and in-between hymns, namely the worship songs from the 60s to the 90s that feature in hymnbooks such as Mission Praise. Today it’s the turn of the in-between hymns.
Today’s song is Rejoice in the Lord Always from the 1960s.
Itβs a very simple song, probably written mainly for kids. Yet its message is wonderful – based on a verse in Philippians:
Philippians 4:4
4 Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice!
The great thing about rejoicing is that you don’t need to be in a good mood to rejoice. But rejoicing can affect your mood. I can contemplate what God has done for me, is doing for me and will do for me.
The Apostle Paul was facing and anticipating his martyrdom – and yet he rejoiced:
Philippians 2:17
But even if I am being poured out like a drink offering on the sacrifice and service coming from your faith, I am glad and rejoice with all of you.
Philippians 2:17
But even if I am being poured out like a drink offering on the sacrifice and service coming from your faith, I am glad and rejoice with all of you.
So many hymns and songs touch on the theme of rejoicing. Here are a couple:
Here are some other instances of today’s song – hopefully, it won’t be forgotten. It’s mainly kids. I could have asked AI to create a Rolling Stones version but I wouldn’t want to upset Mick Jagger π.
