What’s one thing you own that holds deep sentimental value?

I bought this album in the autumn of 1974 – 52 years ago now – imagine that! I was 12-years-old. I had heard various solo singles from all four back in 1973 when I got into pop music. But I only really discovered the magic of the Beatles when I bought this album. And then, throughout the 1970s, I collected all their albums except for “With the Beatles”. Of course, I got into many other groups, but the Beatles have always seemed like the biggest.
I am a little nostalgic about Dylan’s Slow Train Coming too – which I purchased in the spring of 1980. And I bought Saved a few months later. I associated these with the beginning of my life as an evangelical Christian.

I also still have my pocket transistor radio from 1973, which I purchased with my confirmation money. I listened to pop music throughout the 1970s on that – mainly Radio Luxembourg 208. You wouldn’t hear much pop music on Irish radio at that time – until the pirate stations came along around 1978. And then, RTE Radio 2 (now 2FM) was introduced in 1979. When I used to search for 208, I’d often hear communist propaganda on Radio Moscow and Christian preaching on Trans World Radio (TWR) Monte Carlo. My little transistor doesn’t work anymore, but I’d hate to part with it. My attic is full of books that have sentimental value. I just wonder what I’d take with me if I had to part with almost everything. At least I have my memory. I’ve also written an outline of my life on a private Google Sites site, with songs, memories, news stories and so on from each month.- I’d like to always have access to that – just in case my memory diminishes as I grow older. 😀.
Anyway, here’s one of my favourite songs from the Red Album and from Slow Train Coming

Good one! It would have been ‘Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars’ for me :)
