I’ve been exploring some of the very modern worship songs as an old guy π. But now, I’ve decided to alternate between very modern hymns, old hymns, and in-between hymns, namely the worship songs from the 60s to the 90s that feature in hymnbooks such as Mission Praise. Today it’s the turn of the in-between hymns.
Today’s song is Draw Me Close from 1994.
This goes back to 1994, but for me it’s 2017 – when I went through the Mission Praise hymnbook and attempted to learn all the songs that I didn’t already know. I’m trying to do that now with all the 21st century worship songs. I’ve at least 300 that I want to familiarize myself with between now and Christmas – though I already know some to some degree. I still like all the older ones best – like this one. But I think that you need to know a song for a few years before it really sinks in – at least that’s what happens with me π.
It’s all too easy – even for believers, to get distracted and put God out of the picture. That pleases the devil. But we want to bring Him back in and draw close to Him – which is why this is a great hymn to sing alone or with others.
