Magical Mystery Tour

What’s the weirdest movie you’ve ever watched?

I probably watched the beginning of many weird movies, but if I got bored, I’d probably have stop watching it 😀. And if I sat through a weird movie, I might have lost concentration or forgot that I ever watched it.

I’m a big fan of music and Christianity. I’ve watched many odd music and Christian movies. We sometimes used to show Christian movies in evangelism, but so many of them were embarrassingly bad. As for music, The Who’s Tommy seemed very weird to me when I saw it on my 14th birthday in 1976.

I liked the Pinball Wizard scene, with Elton John. Everything else seemed odd.

My daughter got into some of the groups that were popular in my childhood during the last few years. And that got me into them again. So, I got into The Who, and I actually enjoyed Tommy when I saw it again around 2020. And in 2021, my daughter persuaded me to watch Annette by The Sparks. That was truly weird, but I like Sparks.

They aren’t a Christian group, but they reminded everyone of Heaven back in the summer of 1979 with this song:

So what’s the weirdest movie that I ever watched? I could probably pick many, but maybe I should choose Magical Mystery Tour by The Beatles. I certainly watched every minute of it because I love the Beatles, but it is widely acknowledged that it was weird. But I love it for the songs. And I didn’t even mind the rest of it. It just wasn’t what people expected. Things were changing in 1967 – and John Lennon’s appearance changed. I’m always curious about when his transition occurred. I’m watching Anthology again at the moment. He started to change his appearance during the filming of How I Won the War. They all changed, but I find it hard to related the post-1966 Lennon to the earlier version of him.

Anyway, here are some songs from Magical Mystery Tour.

I can’t think of any songs from the old Christian movies that we used to show. They weren’t very well known. We did show Chariots of Fire, but that wasn’t a Christian movie as such, though one of the main characters, Eric Liddell, was a Christian.

But here are a couple of songs that featured in more modern Christian movies – never saw these – hope they’re not too weird. Maybe I’ll have a go at watching them 😀
