I’ve been exploring some of the very modern worship songs as an old guy 😀. But now, I’ve decided to alternate between very modern hymns, old hymns, and in-between hymns, namely the worship songs from the 60s to the 90s that feature in hymnbooks such as Mission Praise. Today it’s the turn of the very modern hymns.
Today’s song is For This Cause from 2000.
I thought that I’d quickly run out of 21st Century songs to discover, but there are plenty – and they’ll keep coming. This one has an intriguing title. What’s meant by “For This Cause”? – Well, when she sings “I’m living for this cause, I lay down my life, Into Your hands, it’s clearly the cause of Jesus Christ and His gospel.
This one goes back to the year 2000. The lyrics are quite simple, but it’s a lovely prayer. I’m thinking that it would be good to spend some more time reading the lyrics of all these songs at a devotional level – maybe a few every day. And then, later, I can play them on the guitar, keyboard, and watch the videos etc. I’m keen to get to know about all the artists too. I’m creating a little private Google Sites website showing a list of each artist, pictures of them, and listing a few facts about them and the songs that they’re well known for. They’re all younger than me. How did that happen 😱? I might eventually find someone older. Actually, Graham Kendrick was born in 1950, so he’s older than me 😀. And all the writers of the newer charismatic songs of the 1960s and 1970s are older than me too. But it’s a joy to see younger people worshipping God – even if they make me feel old 😀.
Here are some other versions of today’s song:
