I’ve been exploring some of the very modern worship songs as an old guy 😀. But now, I’ve decided to alternate between very modern hymns, old hymns, and in-between hymns, namely the worship songs from the 60s to the 90s that feature in hymnbooks such as Mission Praise. Today it’s the turn of the in-between hymns.
Today’s song is He is Here from the 1972.
I see lots of “He is Here” songs on YouTube, but few instances of this one. I remember singing it in a little house group back in the early 1980s. It’s a very short simple song that reminded us that Jesus is present when we gather in His name. I feel very nostalgic about these songs. Maybe the modern generation just prefer 21st Century songs or the old classic hymns. But I like to find some instances of songs from my spiritual childhood 😀.

The Power of Praise and Worship
It’s very upsetting to find so many blogs that are much better than mine 😩. But maybe my dopey blog will encourage other dopey people to write blogs 😀. And, like John the Baptist, we can signpost people to greater things – and greater people – the greatest being Jesus Himself.
Speaking of Jesus, this hymn is about Jesus being among us as we gather in His name. Physically, He ascended into heaven, but spiritually He is with us. Not in the sense that Elvis is with us 😀. He really IS with us. As God, He is omnipresent. He isn’t confined to a specific location – though at times, such as when He appeared to Saul of Tarsus, He might manifest His presence in unusual ways. And He will return physically one day.
