Ulster Fry

Daily writing prompt
What’s the best local dish you’ve ever eaten while traveling?

I can’t really remember seeking out local dishes while travelling in Europe in my younger days. I would generally just head for McDonalds. 😀 And when I was a child, we only knew Irish food. Nowadays, we frequently eat foreign food in Ireland – particularly Indian, Thai, Chinese, Italian, Greek, Spanish and Mexican. The only local dish that I ever remember being given was an Ulster Fry. I used to stay at homes when I visited Northern Ireland (Ulster) back in the 1990s, and I remember a friendly couple giving me an Ulster Fry. It would seem a little unhealthy to me nowadays, but I was quite happy with it back in 1991. For me, the best part was the bread 😀.

Here’s a video about the Ulster Fry.

Here are two secular songs from Ulster folk:

Other Northern Ireland artists that had hits of the years include Dana, The Undertones and Feargal Sharkey, Van Morrison, Stiff Little Fingers, Nadine Coyle from Girls Aloud, Snow Patrol, Gary Moore, Therapy? and the Divine Comedy.
