Hymns: New Wine

I’ve been exploring some of the very modern worship songs as an old guy 😀. But now, I’ve decided to alternate between very modern hymns, old hymns, and in-between hymns, namely the worship songs from the 60s to the 90s that feature in hymnbooks such as Mission Praise. Today it’s the turn of the very modern hymns.

Today’s song is New Wine from 2018.

One of the metaphors that Jesus uses in the New Testament is the notion of new wine needing new wineskins. Some, such as the pharisees, were so deep in traditions that they developed that they despised anything new – even if it was the Son of God.

And over the years sometimes people use the metaphor in the context of being willing to listen to God and change rather than get settled into your own opinions or traditions.I can’t say that I totally understand the lyrics, but the general message is being willing to be open to God and His work on us.
