Romans 8:28

Daily writing prompt
What’s a quote that perfectly describes your outlook on life?

Romans 8:28
28 And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.

I have this fantasy that I’d like to fulfil – but it’s just a fantasy. When I die and go to heaven, I’d like to visit a virtual version of my life in this world and tweak things in my own life and in the whole world, so that it’s entirely happy. I could relive a better version of my life in a better world.

I do have happy moments – even in my present life.

I think of the Van Morrison song; Coney Island with the line “Wouldn’t it be great if it was like this all the time.” How often do we say that? Seldom I think 😀.

But then again, maybe I wouldn’t do a good job of creating a perfect life or a perfect world. Even now, some of my more magical memories are periods when I had significant challenges in life. I don’t tend to relish memories of the easy bits. In any case, when I get to heaven, I’ll probably be happy to move on and leave my old world behind.

Anyway, I trust God. He knows what’s He’s doing. Another quote, like it, in Ephesians, always brings me comfort too:

Ephesians 1:11
11 In him we were also chosen, having been predestined according to the plan of him who works out everything in conformity with the purpose of his will,

So even on the difficult days, I draw comfort from knowing that God is working His purpose out. It’s a little like going to the dentist. I might ask what on earth the dentist is doing by causing so much pain when he cleans my teeth. But he’s doing it for my good – at least I hope he is 😀. And I have much more confidence in God than I have in my dentist.

And I like songs that emphasize God’s care and provision for us:
