Perhaps it depends on what’s meant by villain. Maybe I could understand it as a dictator who has a vision for their nation, empire, or the whole world.
A stopped clock shows the right time twice a day. Likewise, I would think that most villains are right about some issues. It would be fine if they were consistently right, but no.
I don’t like the notion of giving the impression that I admire or justify any villain. I suppose most historical or fictional villains might have thought that they were going to make the world a better place. But they were ineffective.
That’s why, ultimately, I look to Jesus – the King and King and Lord if Lords. I trust Him. Currently, He’s king of my heart – or at least, I try to make Him king of my heart, but a day will come when He will visibly rule the New Heaven and New Earth.
In the meantime, I’m pleased to live in a democracy. We complain about politicians here in Ireland, but if someone asked me to randomly swap places with anyone in the world geographically or historically, I’d opt to stay where I am 😀.
