I’ve been exploring some of the very modern worship songs as an old guy😀. But now, I’ve decided to alternate between very modern hymns, old hymns, and in-between hymns, namely the worship songs from the 60s to the 90s that feature in hymnbooks such as Mission Praise. Today it’s the turn of the in-between hymns.
Today’s song is Come and See the Shining Hope from the 1980s.
I discovered the hymn in 2017. I assumed that it was an old hymn. The tune is old (Â MARCHING THROUGH GEORGIA), but the hymn was first published in the 1980s. I like to hear modern hymns written in the older style from time to time. And this is a good example. And better still, it’s a hymn about the bright future in store for all who believe in Jesus.
Amen, he comes! to bring his own reward!
Amen, praise God! for justice now restored;
kingdoms of the world become the kingdom of the Lord:
Love has the victory for ever!
I don’t see many performances of the song on YouTube, but there are a few. Hopefully, it’ll become popular again.
