I’ve been exploring some of the very modern worship songs as an old guy đ. But now, I’ve decided to alternate between very modern hymns, old hymns, and in-between hymns, namely the worship songs from the 60s to the 90s that feature in hymnbooks such as Mission Praise. Today it’s the turn of the very modern hymns.
Today’s song is You Are My King (Amazing Love) from 2000.
I never heard this one at all until now. Recently, I’ve becoming acquainted with 21st Century hymns and worship songs, which has motivated me to go and discover all the ones that I missed.
What sticks out for me is the little reminder of the old Charles Wesley hymn, And Can it Be (Amazing Love). Many modern hymns make some reference to the older ones, which is great. I love them all – old and new.
Romans 5:6-8
6 You see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly. 7 Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous person, though for a good person someone might possibly dare to die. 8 But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
1 Peter 2:24
24 âHe himself bore our sinsâ in his body on the cross, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; âby his wounds you have been healed.â
Ephesians 1:7
7 In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of Godâs grace
Here are some other versions of today’s hymn:
