Firstly, though this is a Christian blog, this movie isn’t a spiritual movie, though you’ll probably find spiritual references if you look hard enough. “Beat the devil” is just an expression. In the contest of the movie, it probably means morally compromised characters outwitting other morally compromised characters. It’s a 1950s Humphrey Bogart comedy.
I don’t even need to erase it to watch it again. I never get tired of it, though we probably only watch it every couple of years. I some have some favourite movies and TV series like that, where I cherish every moment, regardless of how many times I watch it. And then you have the tedious movies that are hard to concentrate on. I could say modern movies are tedious, but maybe I haven’t watched enough to discover the good ones.
