My policy is to always vote. I used to take a greater interest in politics in my younger days. At one stage, I was quite radical. I’m no longer radical politically. In Ireland, all the parties seem soft left, which seems to be the default nowadays throughout Europe.

I’m tempted to rant about politics, but I think that Christians have a wide range of political views. I like to keep politics separate from religion. Yet, one’s faith will surely influence how one votes. For all our criticism of politicians, I’m very happy to have been born in Ireland, and politicians of all parties have generally done a good job. I am a bit disappointed by the results of recent referenda that touched on moral issues, but I don’t think that politicians could have done much to change the results. But I probably would be more prone to vote for those with conservative Christian values, if I could find any.
I like to watch Reeling in the Years, a show that shows the faces of many of the politicians that I grew up watching on TV.
Here’s an episode from 1973. I knew about so many of them back then. Nowadays, I hardly know anything about Irish politics, but I still vote.
The Amazing Grace movie was a nice example of how Christians can influence politics.
