I don’t use social media much, so maybe I should sing that old Paul Simon song – I Am A Rock. In religion class back in the 1970s, I remember a priest referring to that song. I think he was trying to encourage us to be social. Actually, I can think of two songs about being alone:
I do use chat applications as a substitute for texting family members. I suppose this counts as social media, but it’s not how I think of social media. As for Facebook, I generally use it for viewing old pictures of Cork and other cities that I’ve lived in. I might also be interested in special offers in music or gaming applications. And I’m big into railways, buses, and planes particularly the UK and Ireland.
And I’m always interested in what’s going on in the evangelical world, so I do subscribe to church websites and some broader evangelical sites. I’ll take a look and make a little list of some of them:
- Proclamation Trust
- Evangelicals Now
- Banner of Truth
- UL Christian Union
- At the Castle
- Munster Bible College
- St Helen’s Bishopsgate
- The Gospel Coalition
- Justin Brierley
- Love Both
- BBC Songs of Praise
- RT Kendall
- Ligonier
- The Patrick Story
- Our Daily Bread
- Association of Baptist Church in Ireland
- BeThinking
- Theology Network
- Premier Unbelievable
- Evangelical Movement of Wales
I used to post on Facebook, but maybe I overshared. I dunno. I just reached a point where I decided to delete everything and do no more than read and like stuff. I’m here on WordPress.com now, but I’m sort of anonymous. If you read enough of my posts and if you did happen to know me, you probably would figure out who I was. Maybe I could have paid subscribers and tell them who I am, but I’d charge a million euro per year. I don’t imagine anyone would want to subscribe π. And what does it matter who I am anyway. But if Donald Trump or Elon Musk is reading this, let me know and maybe we can make a deal π.
Maybe that’ll all change in a while. I just didn’t want to reveal too much about myself and delete everything like I did with Facebook and a previous blog I created back around 2006. I’d like this site to last for the rest of my life and even longer.
Anyway, I always like to end with a couple of hymns. So, let’s find a couple about social interaction or fellowship.
