Let Me Think 😀

Write about your dream home.

One of my hobbies is to wander around various places on Google Earth applications, such as Wander. I often focus on a home and wonder what it would be like to live there. We can get close to that by renting holiday homes for a week or so. But if this question is about dreaming, let me create my dream.

Imagine waking up in a duplicate of earth as it stands. It includes people, but they’re more like people in a computer game who don’t interact with you unless you want them to. And you’re free to instantly go where you please and live where you please. Even now, in virtual reality (VR) you can occupy virtual homes. So, if I want to watch YouTube, I might put on my headset and sit in a 1970s apartment in Bigscreen Beta. Or I might play a game of pool in Forever Pool. You can interact with others in these, but I generally stick with mock people 😀. It’s simpler.

In the real world, having a dream home was never a big thing for me. I’m just very glad to have any home. I’d like the government to provide everyone with a basic home that they could easily rent or purchase over their lives. And some could choose to rent or purchase private homes. That’s pretty much what we had in Ireland in my childhood days. I just wonder how it’s all gone so wrong. If I dream of anything, I dream of everyone in the world having a decent home to live in, even if it’s pretty basic.

And then, I think about my future home in heaven. I have no idea what that will be like. There’s much focus in the Bible on a New Heaven and New Earth, a new universe. Some think in terms of heaven being an entirely different place. Others think of heaven merging with earth, so if heaven is where God manifests his presence, when that happens God’s presence will be manifested in a perfect universe without sin or suffering. And in such a world, perhaps we’d get much further technologically and maybe we’d be able to travel in miraculous ways and create in miraculous ways.

So, (this is me dreaming, not something I actually believe 😀) imagine if I will be able to teleport myself to any home on any planet and dwell there for as long as I like, without annoying the existing owners. Maybe I could become a ghost 😀. Anyway, I’m happy to forgo all my dreaming and speculation and simply trust in God. I’ll be happy with whatever He has for me.

In the New Testament, pictures of heaven often focus on us worshipping God. I don’t believe that that’s all it will be, but that will be a central focus. To use an earthly illustration, think of someone that you were once in love with who was totally out of your league. If your dream came through, the big thing would be to be with them. You wouldn’t worry where it was or what kind of café you met them in. And in heaven, the big thing will be that we’ll be with God; Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. And with all his angels and saints, saints meaning all believers, not just famous people canonized by someone or other. I grew up hearing the song “When the Saints Go Marching In”. It was only later in life that I discovered that it was a gospel song, about heaven.

John 14:2-3
My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am.

Philippians 3:20
But our citizenship is in heaven. And we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ,

2 Cor 5:1
For we know that if the earthly tent we live in is destroyed, we have a building from God, an eternal house in heaven, not built by human hands.

Here are songs about our future home:
