An Irish personal evangelistic site. I'm not representing a particular church, but it's broadly evangelical in tone. My aim is to cover topics I've encountered in discussions I've had over the years, mainly here in Ireland..
So, we get to 1992. A key memory of that year was the 1992 Baptist Youth Evangelism (BYE) Team, my last time leading a team in Cork. As usual, we spent the week spreading the gospel in the streets. On our day off, we went to the Old Head of Kinsale. 1992 was also the … Continue reading Hymns: 1992 Memories
When I think of collections, I think of the slogan for Pokémon back around 1999, when my kids were young – the notion of obsessively collecting them all:Gotta Catch ‘Em All! As a child, I remember collecting soccer cards, coins and stamps. Then of course, I could say that I have book collections, CD and … Continue reading Gotta Catch ‘Em All!
So, what legacy would I want to leave behind? That’s an interesting question. When I was young, I dreamt of being famous or important. Maybe it would be easier to answer the question if my dreams had come true 😀. But I’m just an ordinary guy. I was listening to a podcast some time ago, … Continue reading Only One Life
I don’t think I feel the cold as much as most people that I know. And in Ireland, it doesn’t generally get too hot or too cold. I only really notice the cold in Winter when I want to sit or lie down and feel comfortable. A hot water bottle helps. Maybe they’re a bit … Continue reading Hearts Aflame
I was never big into playing sports and climbing trees etc., so I never broke any bones. But I do have one claim to fame. I chipped a bone in my foot once. When I was a voluntary evangelist (VE) with London City Mission, I was on my way to a Bible Study at Bermondsey … Continue reading Dem Bones, Dem Bones, Dem Dry Bones
I’m blessed enough to have been born in a place and time when my work hours were reasonable. So by default, it was balanced. I suppose, work ate into my home life through study, which I enjoyed for the most part, and stress, which was partly my own fault for ruminating about work issues at … Continue reading Work for Jesus
I can’t think of any major sacrifice I’ve made, but we all make minor sacrifices all the time. To accomplish anything, you need to be disciplined and to be willing to say no to easier paths. For example, you make little sacrifices for good physical and mental health, for good relationships, for a good career, … Continue reading Is It Sacrifice?
I have no idea of when I bought what I’m currently wearing, but I can tell you what the oldest wearable items in my possession are 😀. Way back in the mid 1970s, like most teenagers, I yearned to be cool. I didn’t have much money. Somehow or other, I managed to be able to … Continue reading Wrangler Jacket and Jesus Saves Badge
1991 was the year that Limerick celebrated 300 years since the Treaty of Limerick, which ended the Williamite war in Ireland. It was also the year that I passed my driving test and bought my first computer, an Amstrad PCW 9512. I also bought my first second-hand car, a golden Suzuki Swift. And it was … Continue reading Hymns: 1991 Memories
So, am I a leader or a follower? It depends on the context. For example, at various stages of my life, I’ve been a leader as a teacher, as a father, and as a church elder. But in many other contexts, I’m a follower. At times, at third level, some of my students knew more … Continue reading I Have Decided to Follow Jesus
