The short answer is walking. That’s my main exercise. I do some fun exercises on my Meta Oculus too, and I do some other exercises at home for health purposes, but walking is delightful.
I mentioned several Oculus applications in previous posts. One I went back to recently was the free version of Vz Fit. You go into an environment similar to Google Streetview and travel by road on a little bike-like vehicle by flapping your arms like wings or making any kind of movement with your arms. I did buy a sensor to use it with an exercise bike some years ago, but I prefer flapping my wings. I’m like a bird 😀.
You can sometimes feel motion sickness when games or applications include much movement, but there are ways to minimize it. I find rural areas best. Cities make me dizzy. But as I said, walking is my main exercise.
I sometimes like to listen to music while I walk, particularly old music from earlier years,
A couple of years ago, I heard Walk Right Now by The Jacksons for the first time in years. Back in 1981, I tended to see disco music as girls’ music, but listening to it now, it’s a lot better than much of the “cool” new wave and post punk stuff that I was into.
Perhaps if I listened to it while doing my fast walking, it would increase my pace. I do listen to hymns too, but there aren’t many fast ones. But maybe I could listen to Marching On in the Light of God.
What other pop songs do I know that mention walking? Here we go! I’ll just mention 10.
- “Walk on By” – The Stranglers
- “Walking on Sunshine” – Katrina & The Waves
- “I Walk the Line” – Johnny Cash
- “Walk Like an Egyptian” – The Bangles
- “Walk Like a Man” – The Four Seasons
- “Walking in Memphis” – Marc Cohn
- “Walk Tall” – Val Doonican
- “Walk On” – U2
- “Jesus Walks” – Kanye West
- “Walk of Life” – Dire Straits

And here are 10 about running:
- “Running Up That Hill” – Kate Bush

- “Run” – Snow Patrol

And here are two hymns. One mentions walk and the other mentions run 😀.
1 John 1:7
But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin.
Isaiah 40:30-31
Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; 31 but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.
