Minor Health Issues

Daily writing prompt
Do you need a break? From what?

To answer this question briefly and honestly, I don’t desperately need a break. But if a genie appeared to me and asked me if I needed a break, I would probably answer that I’d like to feel perfectly good without any of these minor aches and pains or other annoying chronic health issues.

I shouldn’t complain because there’s nothing much wrong with me. There won’t be any genies appearing to me , but I can bring my needs before God. Only thing is, He can see everyone across the world and down through history. And He might answer that I have it quite well compared to most. For example, I often wonder what I’d do if I was asked to randomly swop places with anyone in history. I think that I’d be better off sticking with being me 😀. Perhaps these minor nuisances help us to look to the long term future when we’ll rise again with new perfect bodies. I think of God’s reply to Paul when he asked to be rid of a health problem:

2 Corinthians 12:9
But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.

Perhaps if everything in life had been perfect, I’d never have bothered considering committing my life to Christ at all. And when we are weak, we are more prone to seek God’s help.

Just the same, I’d like a break from aches and pains and much of the time I do get breaks. I should just learn to be more grateful for generally good health and more sympathetic to those who don’t good health.

Here are a few song about the future. I’m not all that excited about my short time future here on earth, but I delight to think of what comes next.

Romans 8:18
I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us.

Revelation 21:4
‘He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death’ or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.”
