Daily writing prompt
In what ways do you communicate online?

Well, it all started back in 1997 when I discovered email. Then, I discovered Skype in 2006, which I used mainly at work. I don’t chat much to people outside my family, but now that some of the kids have moved out of home, I use various chat applications to contact them, such as Messenger, WhatsApp and Telegram. And I used a wide range of applications at work, such as Microsoft Teams.

The most interesting means of communication was my Meta Oculus, where I often met with my daughter in virtual reality (VR) during the COVID pandemic to watch concerts and movies in the Bigscreen beta virtual cinema . We got so used to observing each other’s avatars, that when we met in the real world, we’d expect to see the avatars rather than the real people πŸ˜€. You can meet strangers in VR, but being an introvert, I stick to myself.

Here’s a guy who explains all about watching movies in VR.

The funny thing is, over the last year, WordPress.com has become my chief means of communication. I subscribed to upload some old Christian evangelistic material that I created for a church website back in 2005. I passed the website domain on to someone else, but I still wanted my material out there. Then, I noticed the Daily Prompt, and it sucked me in πŸ˜€. Because anyone anywhere can potentially listen to me, and I can listen to them, it gives me a sense of community. And I’m becoming a lot more interested in other countries, especially when I notice likes from distant lands.

I always like to integrate a bit of music and Christianity into my posts. So, here’s a couple of “worldly” πŸ˜€ songs about the world and a couple of Christian songs about the world:
Note: I first saw the David Bowie & Mick Jagger song at Live Aid. It was created for Live Aid. I just loved how the world came together to do something wonderful. I hope and pray that I’ll see such unity again someday.
