University of Limerick

Daily writing prompt
What colleges have you attended?
University of Limerick

My first third-level college was Cork Regional Technical College, now Munster Technological University (MTU). At that time, I was an apprentice maintenance fitter. We would spend a few months each year in college classes but we’d spend most time in industry. I also took night classes there for a couple of years.

A few years later, I did a degree in Metal and Engineering Technology at Thomond College of Education, which has now merged with what was NIHE to become University of Limerick. I met the girl that was to become my wife in our little Christian Union there. And we settled in Limerick.

Then, towards the end of the 1990s, I returned to the University of Limerick for a graduate diploma in Computing. After that, I worked at the University and with two firms within walking distance of the university. Most of my kids went to the University of Limerick too.

Nowadays, I like to visit the area for riverside walks etc. and for the occasional concert. I would like to have a look inside sometime soon πŸ˜€, but I’m sure that it’s much changed. Nowadays it has grown substantially. I would think that most students are foreign. I meet many of them regularly in local evangelical churches.

I have very fond memories of all the folk that I met in college over the years. I never enjoyed being under pressure, but nowadays, I focus on all the pleasant memories.

I was in my final year at Thomond College of Education at the beginning of 1986. So, here are two songs from January 1986:

And here are a couple of Christian songs first published in 1986:
