Do you play in your daily life? What says “playtime” to you?

I’ve been big into computer games since I was 30. As a kid, we didn’t really have them. I do remember playing the pong TV game back in the 1970s. I didn’t have much interest in computers in the 1980s. Then, in 1992, I started getting inquisitive about Nintendo games. And lo and behold, I got a Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) console for Christmas 1992. It had a cartridge with three games. Super Mario, Tetris, and a bad soccer game. Since then, I’ve been into computer games. Now I’m in my sixties, but I still like to play computer games. I now have an Oculus Quest, where I regularly play VR games. My favourites are Walkabout Mini Golf and Demeo. I always play solo, but you can play online too with friends or strangers.

But I also like to go back to good old Mario, especially the various versions of Mario kart. In fact, all the family enjoy computer games. They’ve always loomed large in our home.

And I enjoy playing music – guitar and keyboards mainly.

A couple of nights ago, I watched an immersive version of Coldplay at Wembley on my Quest VR headset. I think it’s available for another few weeks. I don’t get too excited about 21st Century music, but Coldplay are an exception. I thoroughly enjoyed the show. I do hope that more shows similar to it become available. Perhaps with the help of AI, we might even be able to see shows of older artists. It really did feel like being at the show – even better in some respects.
