I like the University of Limerick and the surrounding area. It’s about three miles from the city centre. I first visited in 1983 for my entrance exams into Thomond College of Education (now merged with University of Limerick). I spent three years there, graduating in 1986. I was also involved in the Christian Union (CU) there. It was there that I met my wife. Then, after we got married, we used to bring our kids out there for walks along the river Shannon. And most of my kids went to university there. I worked in nearby companies for a good many years, and I worked at the university itself at one stage. So, it all holds a good many memories for me.
And it has a nice riverside walk into the city centre,

I don’t live near it, but it’s easy to get to by bus.
Recently a new church has been established that meet in a nearby cinema – Crossway. I must pay it a visit sometime soon. It’s connected with Limerick Baptist Church.
Here’s two little videos that explores the university area:
And this one explores the city centre area:
I always like to incorporate some music, so here are a couple of modern Limerick artists (I’ve met both personally):
And here are a couple of artists who were popular in my younger years. Reform were popular in Ireland in the 1970s, and The Cranberries are probably the most famous thing to come out of Limerick – or perhaps Richard Harris (Dumbledore in Harry Potter).
I’m actually from Cork, which is nicer again – at least I think so 😀.
