It all depends on the mood that I’m in. I often think that I’d like to live in the UK because I like going there on holiday, but Cork is where I was born. I currently live in Limerick which is about 80 miles away. I would probably prefer to live in Cork. I have no desire to live anywhere else, even though I do love to watch travel videos.
But much as I love Cork, I look to my future heavenly city. I don’t understand the specifics, but I trust and expect that my heavenly home will be better than anything down here. And some Bible content suggest that the earth and the whole universe will be transformed in the future. Maybe we’ll be able to travel all over the universe. But I’d like to think that Cork will still be here 😄. Maybe they’ll even put it back the way it was in my childhood days – but make it perfect too.
John 14:2-3
My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am.
Philippians 3:20
But our citizenship is in heaven. And we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ,
Hebrews 13:14
For here we do not have an enduring city, but we are looking for the city that is to come.
2 Peter 3:13
But in keeping with his promise we are looking forward to a new heaven and a new earth, where righteousness dwells.
If you want to hear the Cork accent, listen to this. It’s probably not as distinct nowadays because of TV etc., but plenty of people had this accent when I was growing up. I probably did myself, but Jimmy Crowley exaggerates it a little I think 😄.
