Workin’ Man Blues

Daily writing prompt
What have you been working on?

I’m pretty much retired now. So, I don’t have the workin’ man blues, but I do miss work, and I don’t rule out going back to employment again. I’ve always enjoyed learning, but it’s nice to spend some time every day producing something, even if it’s something very simple 😀.

Workin’ Man Blues

I started this site/blog earlier this year, and it’s probably my main focus this year.

You can see the full content under the What’s in the Blog heading, which is about halfway down my home page. Currently, my daily content is a response to the Daily Prompt, and I create two other posts each week, one about hymn memories and the other about music memories. I hope to touch on each year of my life. I might even go back further because old songs were often played and sung in our house. And of course, we sing old hymns in church.

I have been thinking about writing my thoughts about Bible chapters, theological issues or hymns. I might focus on that in the new year. I can’t see myself giving up the Daily Prompt though. I’m enjoying it much more than I expected.

Over the last few years, I’ve been working on creating a timeline of my life on Google Sites and listing each month, the songs and movies that were released, news events, and personal memories. And I include pictures if I can find them, both private and public. I don’t make that site public, but it’s a great joy to write and read it, and to listen to a cluster of songs from a particular year or month.

Another fun project is focusing on a different country every day, praying for it, and watching YouTube movies or Amazon Prime content about it. As it happens, it’s India today.

Our Man in India

We’ll get to Ireland soon 😀. And when I finish, at Zimbabwe, I’ll begin again. I’m learning so much, but it’s only the tip of the iceberg, which is why I’ll probably spend the rest of my life on it. I’m so pleased with all the resources available nowadays for armchair travellers. And I suspect that it’ll get even better.

“The earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it.”
