Moussaka

Daily writing prompt
What’s the most delicious thing you’ve ever eaten?

This isn’t an easy question to answer πŸ˜€.

It goes without saying that desserts are delicious. I fondly remember a sort of a knickerbocker glory in a little Roche’s Stores Cafe in Cork, in a street that no longer exists, off Patrick Street. I can’t remember the name of the desserts, but it was overwhelmingly delicious.

Moussaka

So many meals and desserts have been delicious to me. If I were forced to vote, I think that I’d say moussaka. I’ve always thought of it as a Greek dish, but it’s also associated with various countries in the Balkans and middle east.

I don’t imagine that it was around when Paul travelled around the region, but I’ve been watching his journey over the last few days. It would be fun to travel to all these places and experience the local cuisine.

In Ireland, when I was young, we were quite limited in our recipes, and I was a very fussy and cautious eater. I first had lasagne when I went to London back in 1982, and that was my dream dish for a few years, along with baked jacket potatoes, which I’d never had in Ireland, funnily enough. I used to get baked jacket potatoes from a stall in Covent Garden.

And I love Chinese and Indian food too. It makes me wonder if I should explore more world recipes. Maybe there’s even more delicious dishes awaiting. I usually try to end a post with a song. Here are two, one secular song about the dangers of sweets πŸ˜€ and one Christian song about the great feast that awaits us in heaven.
